The Basics: What is Vinyl Plank Flooring?
Vinyl plank flooring is a high-tech, multi-layer material that is primarily made of vinyl. Vinyl plank is just a more technical term for PVC (polyvinyl chloride) flooring.
Luxury vinyl features some of the most innovative, versatile, and high-performing flooring available. It offers the richness and texture of more expensive natural materials, such as hardwood, ceramic tile, and stone, without maxing out your budget. Offered in tile, plank, and sheet formats, vinyl flooring boasts realistic visuals, easy installation, and a high level of comfort.
Luxury vinyl is strong but soft underfoot, maintaining a comfortable temperature in all seasons. This is waterproof, which makes it perfect for kitchens or other high-traffic areas such as a living room or den. It offers a durable, protective top layer that resists scratches, dents, and stains from family pets. It is exceptionally easy to clean (sweeping and/or mopping is all you need), and more protected against drops and spills ─ perfect for your family’s busy lifestyle.
Of all the floor coverings, vinyl plank flooring (also known as luxury vinyl) is one of the simplest to install. Luxury vinyl flooring can be cut to fit unique room shapes or around sinks and cabinets. It can be installed on any smooth surface and requires minimal to no prior floor preparation.
LVP vs. LVT
Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) are marketing terms designed to elevate modern vinyl flooring above the decaying stuff in the kitchen of your first apartment.
The significant differences between them are the design layer and shape.
LVP is generally wood-inspired and comes in the same dimensions as other wood or fake wood planks. This includes both the classic thin strips, and also floors that mimic wide-plank wood flooring.
LVT is typically stone-inspired and often comes in 18x18 and 24x24 inch tiles.
SPC
Stone Polymer Composite (SPC) is a popular type of rigid core luxury vinyl flooring. The “stone” in SPC refer specifically to its core or base layers.
SPC flooring incorporates limestone into its core layer. SPC core is thinner and rigid, making it great for high traffic areas and commercial applications. Think an SUV on a showroom floor, or a retail cart laden with books—SPC is perfect for uses like that.
Crafted for Strength & Style
To create the durability and authentic look of natural materials in LVT/LVP, a highly technical and rigorous process is required. LVT/LVP is manufactured using the hot press method. This heat infused hands-on construction involves a baking process that fuses each layer of vinyl together. This level of craftsmanship helps create the strongest, clearest and highest quality LVT/LVP available.
Our LVT/LVP is comprised of multiple layers to ensure maximum clarity and quality.
BACKING: Three layers of backing stacked and individually rotated to create a stronger locking system. Then it is fused together using the hot press method to create the base.
PRINT DESIGN LAYER: The authentic photograph film design creates both a strikingly vibrant and texturized design in each plank and tile.
WEAR LAYER: To ensure maximum durability and long-lasting use, all LVP/LVT flooring has a wear layer on the surface to protect the design integrity of the flooring.
